HYROX Waitlist: How It Works

Your race sold out and you went looking for a waiting list. There is one — and it's worth joining — but it isn't the only way spots come back, and it isn't the fastest way to hear about most of them. Here's how each route actually works.

Right now 46 races have at least one division sold out. See which

Does HYROX have an official waitlist?

Yes. When a race sells out, its event page on the regional HYROX site offers a waiting list you can join with your email. It's free, and it's the only route that gives you priority access rather than just a heads-up: when cancellations come back or a new wave is added, people on that list are contacted first.

Join it. It is the single best thing you can do for one specific race. Nothing on this page replaces it, and any tool that tells you otherwise is selling you something.

What the waitlist doesn't cover

Two gaps, and they're the reason people still miss spots after signing up:

  • It's one race at a time. You join per event. If you're flexible about city or date — and most people chasing a sold-out race are — you'd have to find and join every waiting list separately, then watch your inbox for all of them.
  • Not every returned ticket goes through it. Spots released back into general sale are simply on sale again, visible to anyone looking at that moment. Those are the ones that vanish in minutes, and an email that reaches everyone at once is not a fast way to find out.

The approach that actually works

  1. Join the official waiting list for the race you most want. Priority access is worth having and costs nothing.
  2. Set a restock alert for that race and any fallback you'd accept. We check ticket availability every few minutes and message you the moment a division reopens — every race at once, not one at a time.
  3. Be ready to buy. Restocks are often a handful of returned spots against hundreds of people waiting. Stay logged in to your HYROX account with payment details saved.
  4. Check the other divisions. Doubles, Relay, Pro and second race days frequently stay open after Open sells out.

HYROX waitlists — frequently asked

Does HYROX have a waitlist?
Yes. Sold-out races offer an official waiting list on their event page on the regional HYROX site. It's free to join and gives you priority access when cancellations or additional waves are released.
How do I join the HYROX waitlist?
Go to the sold-out race's page on the HYROX site for that region and use the waiting list or notification option there. Join it as soon as you see "sold out" — position can matter when spots are released.
Does the HYROX waitlist actually work?
For the race you joined, yes — it's the only route that gives priority rather than just notification. Its limits are that you join one race at a time, and that returned tickets released back into general sale are visible to everyone at once rather than offered to the list first.
How long does it take to get a spot from the waitlist?
There's no fixed timeline. Spots appear when athletes cancel or transfer, or when the organiser adds a wave, so it can be weeks or never. Watching live availability as well as waiting on email is how people catch the returns that go straight back on sale.
Is there a waitlist for my city?
Waiting lists are per race, so it depends on that event. Open your race on the RoxDrop board to see which divisions are actually sold out, then join the official list on the HYROX site and set a restock alert for the same race.
Can I buy a spot from someone who can't race?
Only through the official name-change or transfer process where the event offers one. Entries are personal, and a ticket bought privately can be invalid at check-in — scams around sold-out races are common.
